In his latest body of work titled “Big Fly Big Fish,” Byrd explores technology, hope, the environment, and unintended consequences using a traditional fly tying technique he’s honed over decades as an angler, applied to giant human sized hooks.

Mining the detritus of his junk drawers for random cables, technical paraphernalia, and all the random “stuff” that no longer hold purpose, Byrd creates huge elaborate flies composed of artificial materials.
